On Tuesday
October 21, 2014 a cheerful presenter from the YMCA came to our ESL class to
talk about communication skills. She first introduced herself and asked us to
think about what we know about communication. She then wrote and talked about
the three types of communication on chart paper. These skills are verbal,
non-verbal and para-verbal communication. With every communication skill we did
an activity. We enjoyed that day because we did some fun activities and we
learned more about communicating. By: Esther

On Tuesday November 4, we were excited to have a
second presentation from the YMCA. Our YMCA presenter visited our ESL class
again, this time to talk to us about multiculturism and Canadian culture. She
first introduced the subject we were going to talk about and then she started
to talk about Canadian culture and traditions. After, we played a trivia game
based on what we learned. We learned a lot of things about Canadian culture
such as food and special Canadian ‘lingo’. We also learned about famous people
and about food from different cultures. We really enjoyed the presentation
because we learned so much! We are looking forward to our next presentation. By: Rena D. and Moana
